In Pittsburgh, Even the Buildings are Stubborn

After repeated failures to take down St. Francis Central Hospital via controlled collapse, contractors have thrown up their hands and will be imploding the building the morning of March 22.

Filing under "Penguins" as the demolition of the building will enable construction on the new arena to move ahead.

  2. I got to see them implode a building in downtown Pittsburgh some years ago now. Strangely, I can't seem to recall much at all about it. I think it was the one that had murals of Mario and Stargell on it. Or did I dream that?

I recall drinking some beer and ducking between building to avoid a wall of dust and smoke that came down the street.
