Art teacher in Texas fired for taking kids to a musuem that showed nude art. Perish the thought that a group of fifth graders have their virgin eyes corrupted by viewing Rodin's The Shade.
The school district claims that they had issues with the teacher's performance in the classroom.

ReplyDeleteRemember, this is the state where Ma Parker applied the line-item veto to eliminate secondary-school foreign-language instruction from an appropriations bill, attributedly commenting, "If English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for the school children of the great state of Texas." Ahem.
I graduated from nearby Richardson HS in 1980. The exquisite drum majorette I went out with my senior year (I'd thought I was really fighting out of my weight asking her out anyway) broke off the date after learning I was Catholic, informing me that, to paraphrase a They Might Be Giants song lyric, I was among the nicest of the damned -- it seemed that Catholics are idolators and not necessarily Christian. And so it goes.
